April Showers by Marilyn

As I sit in the comfort of my warm home from the cold rain and dreary weather outside, I realize that April is the month for rain. In Oklahoma, you really never know what you're going to get. And like I mentioned in my previous Spring Fling post, we can sometimes have all four season hit in a week. April and May are our true months for unpredictability. May is more of our tornado season where cold and hot fronts are arriving every other week. But April is generally our month for rain.
With this unpredictability, it is best to be fully prepared for anything. Today may be 40 degrees and rainy, but tomorrow will easily be 70 degrees and hot. For this weather it is necessary to have a good pair of boots to slosh through the rain in. I'm not sure about you guys, but it can really be frustrating when my clothes get wet and it's cold outside. I feel like I remain cold and wet for the next few hours (even if I am inside) and it's hard to feel comfortable until I am warm again.
I love this new raincoat because it does its job of keeping out the wind and rain, yet it is ultra-light and comfortable. There is also a zip out hoodie on the back to keep my head dry. And of course the selling point for me on this coat is that I am in love with the style. Why does it seem that practical raincoats are generally not flattering for the female figure? I enjoy wearing fun clothing that is flattering to my figure. And honestly, it makes my day better when I feel good about myself and what I'm wearing.
I decided to keep the hoodie zipped in and feature this wonderful infinity cowl. It is warm, cozy, and huge! This is exactly how I like my scarves to be when it is cold outside. I decided to go with a light jacket and keep the warm cowl due to our weather. Just like this past weekend, it was freezing Sunday morning, but by the afternoon, I was ready to lay out in the sun. If you have a light jacket on hand, make use of it this month! If not, I highly recommend seeking out and investing in the perfect raincoat that makes you feel good about yourself!

Of course I paired this coat, boots, and scarf with a pair of bright blue pants. If I'm going to wear dark neutral colors, I must get bright colors into my outfit somewhere! Like I've mentioned in previous posts, adding color in the right places at the right amount is the perfect way to pull an outfit together. It can make a dull outfit bright, especially for this lovely Spring. Just because it is cold and dreary outside, doesn't mean your outfit has to be!

  12. Great Post! Loving your cowl and blue pants. I've been wanting jeans that color for so long, so I think its time I took the plunge. I live right outside NYC and we always have to be prepared for rain as well. Umbrella is always in the purse just in case. Oh and that Easter Fun post you guys did was right up my alley.

  14. Cute outfit! I live in Kansas City, so I know how crazy this midwest weather can be. One day it's freezing, and the next it's hot! I'm looking forward to some warmer weather this weekend, so hopefully you guys will get some, too. That raincoat would sure come in handy next week! Have a great day!

  17. The unpredictability of this time of year drives me crazy sometimes! Here in Brooklyn it's gorgeous and sunny but still a little chilly, and you never know when the rain will hit. Your outfit is perfect for right now, and I love the bright blue pants!
