Spicy Roasted Chickpeas by Kaleb

I first began making Roasted Chickpeas as a snack while we were participating in the daniel fast. After the fast ended I continued to make them because of how yummy they are and how easy they are to make. It only takes a few minutes to prepare and about 20-25 minutes to bake. I usually check on them once or twice while they are baking just to make sure they are not burning. Have fun with this recipe! You can change up the recipe to make them more spicy, savory, or sweet.

Ingredients
4 c. Chickpeas, soaked, rinsed and dried well
2 tbsp. Olive oil
1 tsp. Sea salt
1 tsp. Ground pepper
1 tbsp. Cumin or Mixed Spices

1. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees.
2. Place all of the ingredients into a large bowl and mix until chickpeas are covered.
3. Pour mixture on to a baking sheet and place in the oven for 25 minutes, or until chickpeas are lightly brown.
4. Let cool for 10 minutes, and then enjoy!

  1. Look yummy! I've usually seen these made by frying the chickpeas in oil instead of baking them, so I've always had trouble with the cooking time. This seems like a simpler (but just as delicious) method. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks Kara! Yes you will have to try these out. Baking chickpeas is definitely a newer thing for us. But baking really helps to capture and condense the yummy flavor. You will have to try it out and let us know how it goes! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Wow, I´m going try this! B (my bf) loves chickpeas and we both LOVE spicy food. I´m Asian and B lived in Asia for close to 8 years.

    Thanks for sharing! :)

    1. Hi Daphne! That's amazing that you and your boyfriend can share similar tastes when it comes to food. Luckily we both really enjoy food with an Asian influence as well. We might be a little biased as well. ;) Thanks for stopping by!

  6. That looks great! I normally don't eat chickpeas because my friend that cooked them for didn't do that good of a job so my first impression was gone, haha. But I'd definitely check this recipe out in the near future!

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Haha that's pretty funny. But I suppose it takes a few bad experiences to be able to appreciate a good one sometimes. These chickpeas make a wonderful little snack! Thanks for stopping by!
