Salted Carmel Brownies Recipe by Kaleb

With all of the recent inconsistent weather, we have had a craving for homemade brownies. We were specifically wanting something that was sweet and salty. We adapted a few different recipes to come up with our own special recipe for salted carmel brownies. These could not have turned out better! They met that craving we had for the salty-sweet mixture as well as some rich chocolate. These brownies may just change your life. Enjoy!

Ingredients
For the Brownies
2/3 c. Semisweet chocolate, chopped
1/2 c. Unsweetened chocolate, chopped
8 Tbsp. Unsalted butter, cut into pieces
3 Tbsp. Cocoa powder
3 Eggs
1 1/4 c. Granulated sugar
2 tsp. Vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 c. All-purpose flour

For the Salted Carmel Sauce
1 c. Granulated sugar
6 Tbsp. Unsalted butter
1 tsp. sea salt
2/3 c. coconut milk

1. Preheat the oven at 350 degrees and spray an 8 in. square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.

Carmel Sauce
2. In a large sauce pan, heat sugar over medium heat and whisk the sugar until it melts. Make sure to keep whisking until the sugar turns a golden brown. Once the sugar has liquified whisk in the salt, and butter, continue to keep the sauce moving until combined. Remove from heat and stir in the coconut milk until throughly mixed.  Set aside and allow to cool for 15-20 minutes.

Brownie Batter
3. In a medium sauce pan simmer 1 c. of water, and set a heat proof bowl on top. Add chocolate and butter and stir until smooth. Once melted stir in cocoa powder until combined.

4. In a separate bowl combine eggs, sugar, vanilla, and salt, whisk until combined (about 30 seconds). Mix in melted chocolate, and then flour. Once combined pour half of the mixture into the 8 in. baking pan.

5. Pour 8-9 spoonfuls of carmel sauce on top of the brownie batter, then pour the rest of the brownie batter on top. Drizzle desired amount of carmel sauce on top, and sprinkle with seat salt.

6. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes, or until slightly puffed. Double check that the brownies are baked completely by inserting a fork into the center and comes out clean. Let cool on a wire rack for 2 hours, cut and then enjoy!
