DIY: Robin's Nest Egg Nails for Easter by Marilyn

What better way to start off spring than to pick out a few lovely colors of nail polish and brighten up your nails? I have really been loving this light blue color in almost everything I buy. I had been looking for a particular shade of nail polish every time we went to shopping and I finally found the perfect shade of lovely blue at Forever21 the other day! I decided to do something different instead of simply painting them blue and decided to throw some white and silver into the mix. The materials I used are pictured below: blue and white nail polish, masking tape, and a silver sharpie.

First you will want to cut your masking tape into little straight rectangles. You want them to be straight so that you get a straight line on your nail. Next, paint your nails white. I usually have to paint a few coats so it won't be transparent. Let this dry completely.
Tape up your nails diagonally from one end to the opposite corner. I stuck with one direction on one hand and the opposite direction on the other. I like the contrast of doing it like this and it sort of makes all of your triangles point towards the center when holding your hands side by side.

Paint the white part of your nail that is showing with the blue nail polish and give it a few coats. Let this dry as much as you can before peeling off the tape. If you don't let it dry fully, the blue paint will stick to the tape and come off with it.
Once you have peeled off the tape, take your silver sharpie and draw diagonal lines going with your blue lines. I did about two layers of this. After all of this is dry, you can dab on some clear nail polish so your look will last through Easter.
I chose to use blue since I love it, but any spring color will look lovely with the white nail polish as long as it contrasts enough against the white.

And now you have fun nails to do all of those Easter egg hunts with and quite possibly match the eggs!

I love how simple it is with the use of the sharpie, but looks so complex when finished!

  20. This looks really nice. But when I use tape on my nails, it always looks messy or the polish comes off with the tape.
