DIY Gold on White V-Day Nails by M

I was recently inspired by a few different pins on Pinterest to do some pretty things with my nails. Normally I don't really make time to draw intricate designs on my nails, but what better time than Valentine's week to do something special? So I decided to try this out and share my process. Show everyone how great your hand-rendering skills are by sporting these finished nails around the office this week. Also note this doesn't have to be done specifically for this holiday. You can do it any time of year with any designs you want! What you will need is pictured below: white and clear nail polish and a gold sharpie.
First step: Paint your nails white! This took a few layers for me and I actually let them dry overnight to lessen the risk of messing them up and having to start over.
Next, take your gold sharpie and have fun doodling pretty things on your nails. I decided to go with basic polka dots, chevron stripes, and hearts. Here's the great thing about using the sharpie. If you mess up your design, you can remove the sharpie marks with rubbing alcohol or even dap a little nail polish remover on there with a q-tip.
Once you have all your designs the way you like them, carefully dab a layer of clear nail polish over the top of your designs to seal it in. If you brush your nails instead of dabbing them, your sharpie designs will be smudged by the nail polish. So be sure to dab!
And now you are finished and have RAD nails to show to everyone for Valentine's week! Enjoy!

  1. This is so cute! Definitely a good alternative to doing nail art with a different color nail polish and a brush, seems like it would be much easier :)

  4. Thank you so much for the sweet comment. It means so much to a new blogger, as I'm sure you know. You're blog is so adorable and your pictures are gorgeous! Would it be inappropriate or sound too desperate to ask you to follow my blog? haha I don't really have a following yet and it would mean a lot to me if we could support each other as new bloggers. :0) I'd be very grateful.

  5. I love this idea! I've seen it before but I was questionable about how well the gold sharpie would turn out. You've turned me into a believer!
