After my first DIY: Baby Flower Headband, I decided to create another style. If we had a daughter, I know I'd want to have options for headbands we could match to her outfit. So I decided to test out a new style. After my first experiment with the DIY headband, I wanted to make something that would lay more flat. The original one I made was fun, but I felt that this flat one would put more focus on the baby wearing it and less attention on standing out (literally). Another fun baby project or shower gift ready for you to try!

Step 1: Gather materials including: soft knit long-sleeved shirt (used for headband), and few felt squares of various sizes and colors (be sure to purchase green felt for the leaves), a bag of plastic pearls (assorted sizes), fabric scissors.
Step 2: Take your assorted colored felt squares and trim them into flower shapes. The trick I used to have a more even look was folding the squares in half, trimming them into circles, and then trimming out humps for the petals.
Step 3: Place your felt flower shapes in the order you would like them on the headband and sew through the middle. Go ahead and sew in your pearls to the top of the flower bunch. You can sew in as many as you like. Tie off your knot underneath the flower bunch so that it won't display on the outside of the headband.
Step 4: Cut your green felt into a leaf cross. For the best outcome, fold your square in half and cut your leaves as even as possible. For cutting out the leaves and flower shapes, it is a good idea to have extra felt on hand to leave room for error.
Step 5: Sew in your leaf cross to the bottom of your flower bunch and tie off underneath.
Step 6: Cut a couple inches from the sleeve of your knit sweater. I cut about 4 inches on the width of my band. When it stretches around the baby's head, it tends to be much thinner, so I like to cut a wider band. Trim the band as needed or if it looks to wide once it is on your baby.
Oh this is adorable. So bummed I don't have a little girl to make one for :)
