Charleston Charm by Marilyn

Last week we had the chance to visit some of my family in my home state of South Carolina. I grew up in the south and there is a lot about it that still influences my style and personality. I really enjoy visiting home and the warm feelings and memories I have. I love the hot weather and charming people. And of course seeing my family is the best part of being home. I feel revived after visiting with them.

On our visit to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina last week, we decided to take a small side trip to the beautiful historic city of Charleston, South Carolina. While we were there I had the opportunity to wear this fun zipper dress. I love this dress because it's so comfy to walk around in and I feel that it fits well into the colors and style of the city. Charleston was known in the 1700s for having the leading export of Indigo. And I love how this dress radiates that lovely color. Dressing to the theme of your visiting city is a great way to immerse yourself in the culture. I enjoy the challenge and trying out new outfits for each occasion.     I have really fond memories of trips to Charleston when I was a kid. It was such a lovely city. My aunt owned a bed & breakfast in Asheville, NC and whenever we would visit from Canada, we would always make our way to SC as well.

    One time we were there, they were raising a submarine (the Hunley? I think..) that had sunk many years before. It was pretty crazy, and definitely made the trip memorable.

    Ah the South.. Beautiful weather, beautiful buildings, and of course, lovely people :)

    South Carolina is so cute! Only been twice (once to Myrtle Beach, and once on a road trip), but it was great both times. Definitely nothing like my hometown. I love your sandals, too. I wonder if Target still has them.
