This is a simple-to-make and great tasting smoothie that can be modified with a variety of fruits. For this one, I used bananas for the fruit, but other good options would be strawberries, raspberries or mango. Most smoothies have a base ingredient that gives it an overall texture and body. In this case I decided to use vanilla almond milk as the base. This gives it a smoother and less chunky consistency. Also this is a great post workout smoothie; you can substitute the cocoa powder for a protein powder of your choice or just add it in as well.
1.5 c. Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
1.5 c. Ice
2 Tbsp. Cocoa Powder
ASprinkle of Cocoa Nibs and Coconut for a garnish.
Combine all ingredients into the food processor, placing the heavier items in first. I try to sandwich any powders in between layers so they dont kick up when I start to blend. Then pour the almond milk on last. Pulse blend for 30-40 seconds to break up the larger chunks, and then continuous blend for another 30-40 seconds. Pour into a glass and sprinkle some coconut flakes and cocoa nibs on top.
