Ingredients:
20 Deglet Noor Dates (Pitted)
1 c. - Water
1/2 tsp. - Cinnamon
Place dates and water into saucepan and make sure the dates are fully submerged. If not, add more water until dates are barely submerged and bring to boil on a stove. Once boiling, turn burner to low and let simmer for 40-50 minutes. After the dates have simmered, turn the stove off and let cool for 15 minutes. Once it has cooled, place these into a foodprocessor or blender (we used our VitaMix). Blend until pureed or until the consistency is the same as jelly. Keep it in a airtight container and put in the regrigerator. It should keep for up to 2-3 weeks.
Date Honey is a great substitute for jelly/jam and can be used to sweeten anything. But instead of having processed/refined sugar, you are using all-natural ingredients, which will be easier for your body to process and so much better for your long-term health. This is not something we have been able to find or buy in stores, so we use our own recipe when we are doing the Daniel Fast. Some of our favorite items to use it in are PB & Date Honey, add a spoon full to oatmeal, and sweeten up our No Bake Nimzies.
This is a modified version of the Date Honey recipe out of the book The Complete Guide to the Daniel Fast by Kristen Feola.
Oooh thanks for posting this! Next time I go grocery shopping I'll have to pick up some dates so I can try it out.
