Five Favs of 2013: Recipes by Kaleb

Wow! This year has flown by, I cant believe we have been blogging consistently for one year. As we are nearing the end of 2013, Marilyn and I wanted to highlight some of our favorite posts from the year. We will be sharing what we call our "Five Favs of 2013" in every topic we have chosen to focus for the year. To start it all off, we are excited to share this post on our five favorite recipes (my favorite category)! We always joke about how food is my love language. Here are some of our favorites (and these all make great holiday recipes)!

Five Favs of 2013: Recipes

I have always been weary of beets, but this Berry Beet Juice smoothie changed my mind. It was packed with nutrients and super tasty! Juice this bad boy up after your next holiday feast for a nice cleanse. You will feel so refreshed and ready for 2014!

Next time you make your favorite Thai dish for dinner, try his Thai Cucumber Salad as a starter to prep the palate for those amazing spices to come. Also this salad is delicious on its own and has changed our way of thinking on cucumbers.

This is a crowd pleaser when we have people over for dinner. Prepare these Bruschetta and Crostinis beforehand and have out as a pre-dinner snack. While people are mingling and munching, they won't even realize that you are running a little behind with dinner. :)

Looking for a fun way to change up some recipes for the holidays? Try these single serving Sweet Potato Casserole in a Jar and you'll have family and friends coming back for seconds and thirds. Also for those of you who are not conditioned to having sweet potatoes with holiday meals, this is always a party favorite! And this sweet potato casserole has become a staple dish at all of our Thanksgivings.

I have been making my own hummus for a couple of years, but I realized I had been making all wrong...it's been missing Sriracha!  This Sriracha Hummus gives the hummus a wonderful smokey flavor the perfect amount of kick at the end. Once you have tried this recipe, you will never go back to hummus sans Sriracha.
