I recently found this lovely gold chevron necklace at Forever21. I loved the design of it, but wanted to make it uniquely my own and also add some color. I decided to spice up the gold in the necklace and experimented with some of my favorite colors. Since there are three charms on this necklace, I decided to leave one gold and paint the other two charms. This is a fun project that can be achieved on any type of jewelry and most accessories. Don't feel like you must complete this project on this specific necklace when there is another style you may prefer. Always keep an open mind when it comes to buying new pieces. I usually like to get a good deal on something and then turn it into a Do-It-Yourself project that I can fix up and make worth much more in the end. This will really challenge your creativity and help you to open your eyes to the awesome new projects you can accomplish.
The materials you will need for this project include: 1 chevron charm necklace (available at Forever21), 2 different (complimentary) colors of nail polish, and some jewelry pliers.
The instructions to this are really simple. Use your jewelry pliers to carefully remove your charms. Add two coats of each color of paint to each charm allowing to dry between each coat. Be careful not to paint over the holes or it could leave your charms with some chips later. If you do by chance paint over a hole, you can use a needle or pushpin to poke the hole open again gently.
Allow these charms to dry fully. You might even allow them to dry overnight so you don't make marks on them when reattaching. Once fully dried, you can reattach your charms to your necklace using your jewelry pliers. And voila! You are finished and have a fun unique necklace that will be different from everyone else's!
