Mexican Seasoning by Kaleb

During the Daniel Fast I came across this recipe to make a homemade taco seasoning/mexican inspired spice (Daniel Fast approved). It really came in handy to add a little extra to some of the less flavorful meals that we were eating, but even after we finished our fast I continue to use this seasoning on everything. This spice is great in so many recipes we make. We use it all the time to season homemade black-bean patties, guacamole, hummus, tofu, chicken, and the list goes on.

Ingredients
2 Tbsp. Chili Powder
1 tsp. Ground Cumin
1 tsp. Garlic Powder
1 tsp. Paprika
1 tsp. Onion Powder
1/2 tsp. Dried Oregano
1/8 tsp. Cayenne Pepper

Directions
Pour all spices into a jar or extra spice shaker and mix together. I usually give the jar a good shake before adding the seasoning to anything to make sure it is mixed thoroughly.

When making your own Mexican seasoning feel free to add more or less of certain spices to bring out the flavors that you love. This recipe is the base mixture to get you started, but don't stop there. I like to experiment and add new/extra spices to see if I can really give it a kick. I get this from grandpa who likes to make his own spicy pickled eggs...it sounds disgusting and looks even worse, but they are delicious and he one ups himself every batch. More on that special recipe to come soon! Have fun and experiment with different spices. Enjoy!
