Mustard in the City by Marilyn

Do these cowls and photos look familiar? If you recognize them, that might be because we posted about how you can make your own last week! These turned out to be fabulous and a great way to add some flair to any outfit.
As you all know, it's been pretty chilly in the midwest recently and it was snowing every few days here for a couple weeks. Luckily we were able to snap a few photos in between the snowstorms and chilly weather.
I decided this was a great time to get creative with wearing shorts in cold weather. When it's chilly, but you still want to wear shorts because they are cute, just add tights! Tights are obviously a great cold-weather accessory for practical reasons, but they also look great on and can tie an outfit together. I paired these shorts with boots, a patterned tank top, and a thin v-neck sweater.

I obviously chose yellow because I might accidentally own about twenty or so solid yellow wearable items. And it might be my favorite color to wear for now. I paired this mustard sweater with these cotton/wool blend gray shorts and boots.
I love wearing color and believe it's great to wear multiple colors! However pairing one bright color and one or two neutrals can really make your color pop and bring out the best in your features. If you overload your body with too many colors, people might be unsure of where to focus.
These photos were so much fun to take. And I feel blessed to have such an amazing and talented husband. Kaleb took these photographs and somehow manages to be great at everything creative he touches. I can see that he brings out the best in me and in others. I'm so thankful every day that God blessed me with him.

The sweater and beanie are by Forever21, the Boots are Wanted, the patterned tank top is Old Navy and the tights are Target.

  2. Hello! Thank you so much for your lovely comment on my little blog - i am just popping over to investigate yours ;) I love that yellow sweater on you, i cannot wear that colour, love it as i might, it makes me look dreadfully ill. I have however just bought THE lovliest pale pink chunky cable knit jumper to wear over my dresses into spring, and maybe over pyjamas on these frosty evenings too. I digress.

I am off to explore here more xxxx
