Grilled Black Bean Burger Recipe by Kaleb

With all of the cookouts we have been attending this summer, I've started changing up what we are bringing and eating. One of our new healthy favorites is this black bean burger recipe. We love grilling out, but we generally run into the problem of black bean burgers falling apart and dropping into the charcoal. So to remedy this from happening, I changed up my normal black bean burger recipe to make it stick together better and tried grilling it in tin foil. I was a little nervous this would not work at first. But after testing one out I was convinced that it is possible to grill a black bean burger without losing half of it to the charcoal or fire.

Ingredients
2 c. Black beans
2 c. Great northern beans
1/2 c. Diced tomatoes
1/2 c. Diced onion
1/2 c. Flax seed meal
3/4 c. Corn
1 tbsp. Mexican spice (or spice of your choice)
1 tsp. Garlic powder

Instructions
Step 1: Pour half of the beans into a medium sized bowl and mash thoroughly.

Step 2: Add corn, tomato, onion, and flax seed and mix together.

Step 3: Add spices and mix together.

Step 4: Gently mix in the rest of the beans.

Step 5: Using a 1/2 c., scoop out portions of the black bean mixture and place on pre-cut tinfoil sheets.
Step 6: Wrap and place in a one gallon bag and store in the refrigerator until ready to grill.
